When you use the Vega GPS Tracker mobile application and services, we collect the following types of information:
- Precise & Background Location Data: We collect precise real-time geographic location coordinates (latitude, longitude, speed, heading) from vehicle GPS hardware devices and background location when using Driver Mode to provide real-time tracking, trip playback, geofence alerts, and telemetry reporting.
- Account Information: Name, email address, password hash, and organization details when registering or authenticating an account.
- Vehicle & Hardware Diagnostics: Vehicle identification numbers (VIN), IMEI numbers, ignition status, battery voltage, fuel levels, and OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes.
- Device & Usage Identifiers: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens, device model, operating system version, and crash logs collected via Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app stability and deliver real-time push alerts.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following core operational purposes:
- To display real-time vehicle positions on dynamic maps and provide trip replay animation.
- To calculate engine runtime, distance traveled, overspeed alerts, and geofence exit/entry notifications.
- To send critical push notifications (e.g., parking guard breaches, power disconnects).
- To monitor platform health, prevent unauthorized access, and troubleshoot application errors.
3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Disclosure
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal location data or account information to third parties or advertising networks. Information may only be shared under the following conditions:
- Service Providers: Cloud infrastructure, map tile providers (Google Maps), and notification providers (Firebase Cloud Messaging) solely to deliver core functionality.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, subpoena, or law enforcement authority to protect legal rights and safety.
4. Data Security & Storage
All data transmitted between the mobile application, vehicle GPS gateways, and cloud servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. We employ strict access controls, database encryption, and rate-limiting safeguards to prevent unauthorized access.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
Location logs and telemetry data are retained for as long as necessary to provide historical reporting to your organization. You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting support or submitting an account deletion request.
